Dr. Rajesh Kumar received the Bachelor of Technology in Engineering degree with honors in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India in 1994, Master of Engineering with honors in Power Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, India in 1997 and Ph.D. degree in Intelligent Systems from the University of Rajasthan, India in 2005. He is currently Associate Professor at Department of Electrical Engineering; Adjunct Associate Professor at Centre of Energy and Environment at Malaviya national Institute of Technology, Jaipur, India.

He has been Research Fellow (A) at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at National University of Singapore from 2009-2011. He has been Reader from 2005-2009, Senior Lecturer from 2000-2005 and Lecturer from 1995-2000 at Department of Electrical Engineering, Malaviya National Institute of Technology. He is the Founder of ZINE student innovative group.His background is in the fields of Computational Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, power engineering, energy harvesting and management, control theory, robotics, automation, bioinformatics , smart grid, manufacturing, computer vision and signal processing.

Dr. Kumar is also interested in developing theoretical and experimental tools to aid health and medical support system.

Dr. Kumar serves on the editorial boards of 10 journals, and has served as Technical Program Member and on the program committees of over 35 international conferences and workshops in the Artificial Intelligence, Power Electronics, Intelligent System, Robotics, Automation, Sensing, Computing, Systems , Control, Online Engineering and Engineering Education areas.

Dr. Kumar has presented more than 75 keynote speeches, invited talks and lectures, colloquia and seminars at research meetings, Faculty Development Programme, University departments, research centers, and companies.

The current research and development activities at include work on new generation algorithms, intelligent controllers, robotics, MAS, smart grid, self healing system, genetic sequence alignment, medical data analysis, nature inspired algorithms, energy management and design optimization.

Dr. Kumar has supervised 45 graduate and undergraduate students working on different projects within Computational Intelligence, Power Electronics, Energy System, robotics, computer vision, control, and optimization. He is presently supervising twelve Ph.D. students. Four Ph.D.(04) students have been awarded their degrees and one Ph.D.(01) student has submitted their thesis for evaluation. Sixteen (16) Master’s students have already graduated under his supervision. They have found employment both in the academia as well as in the industry (in USA, Korea, Australia, France, Singapore, Germany and in India). Three of the ten current Ph.D. students will be graduating within the next six months.

Dr. Kumar has been awarded Career Award for Young Teachers by All India Council of Technical Education, Government of India, 2000, Student Project Award at the 4th International Exhibition and Conference on New Technologies in Transmission, Distribution, Smart Grid, Renewable Integration (GRIDTECH 2013), April 2013 for Brain controlled Robot for Transmission line monitoring, 04 best paper awards at International Conferences,  Student Project Award Innovations for Everyone National contest organized by National Geographic Channel and Volkswagen for developing a novel Electronic Goniometer for Biofeedback,  Student Project Award at TI India Analog Design Contest, 2011, Student Project Award at the National Student Robot Competition by Ministry of Defense, Government of India, 2010, Biography Added to 2000 Outstanding Scientists 2008/2009 in International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, GREAT BRITAIN. Dr. Kumar is a Senior Member, IEEE, Fellow IETE, Member IE (I), Senior Member IACSIT, Life Member ISTE, Member IAENG.
